I purchased this book for a friend's child several years ago, and it has always been one of her favorites. I was excited to get a copy for my own child! My baby is only 3.5 months old, but I read this book to her aloud frequently. Studies show that the more words children hear, the smarter they are (and no, tv and radio don't count), so reading is paramount for developing your child's brain. Prelutsky has a masterful command of the English language, and many of the poems have clever word play and double entendres. The illustrations (which I presume are what is keeping my baby interested at this stage), are lush and colorful and layered with incredible detail. This book is a must for any child's library.

The book is fantastic. I only regret that my order was limited to 4 copies. Plans are being made to share the book with a book club comprised of a dozen grandmothers hoping for unique ways of sharing this wonderful book.
Normally love Jack Prelutsky but this edition is a HUGE disappointment. I opened it on my 10" tablet and the print is too small and there is no way to enlarge it. I would return it, but for $.99 it's not worth the effort.
We love Mr. Prelutsky's poems. I am giving 3 stars because these poems are more about scary and gross things. I had thought that they would be funny or humorous poems. I did take a look inside this book before buying. But the poems I got to see were not that way. My child read only very few poems and then told me that she wants 'normal' Jack Prelutsky poems!
Save your money and buy the actual printed book. The printed book is wonderfully written and illustrated! I heartily recommend that. But the book was a waste of my money because of limited functionality. My children loved Jack Prelutsky's poetry when they were young, so I bought a copy of this book thinking they could enjoy it on their tablets and phones now that they're young adults. What a disappointment! The book can't be viewed on a Paperwhite. It can't be viewed on an iPhone or iPad either. The text does show up on the iOs devices but it's microscopic and only half of it appears on the page. It turns out that I can view the pages on my app on my laptop, but I rarely read books on my laptop. Since the book is not compatible with all devices, could you make a note of it on the product page?
Love this very colorful poetry book. It's my granddaughter's favorite. The author is beyond clever and brilliant. Excellent play on words. Engages the adult reading it aloud as much as the child listening. This book comes with a CD of the author reading some of the poems and each chapter has suggested activities. Well worth the money
I’m reviewing the edition I got for $0.99.
The only picture included is the cover; otherwise it contains just the poems, barely formatted.
The titles and poems are the same size font, with no space between.
If there are two poems on a page, they are run together.
If the poem extends close to the bottom of the page, one cannot see the final lines.
Prelutsky poems are always wonderful, no matter how poorly presented. That is why I gave this two stars.
I’m not sure this is even worth $0.99. Forget the edition, get the real book!
I should have listened to the other reviews -- don't get the edition! The print is way too small and there's not an easy way to enlarge it like there is for most books. Prelutsky is great, just not in this format, unfortunately.
