FTC Disclosure: I received a free advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. However, I also ordered three copies for my library and and a finished copy for myself. And that should tell you how this review is going to go.

I love this book even more than I loved Escape From Mr. Lemoncello's Library. I know my students will love it too. I've begun reading the book to the third graders when they come for library lessons. They can't decide if they want me to slow down so they can savor the story or if they want to speed up because the story is so engaging.

Any reader who loves Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will love this book. This is one of those books that just makes you feel good. There are plenty of puzzles to solve and plenty of action to keep you on the edge of your seat. And of course I love all the book and Dewey Decimal references. Even kids who think the library is boring (gasp! yes there are a few of those out there) will love this book!

It is a must for any elementary library or classroom collection. It's good for adults, too.

Mr Lemoncello Library Olympics Chris Grabenstein 9780553510409 Books Reviews

We read it as part of a mother/daughter book group. We read escape from Mr. lemoncello's library for an earlier book group and the girls were desperate to read this one. Overall a huge hit. For the girls reading well above grade average they could read it on their own. For those at grade level(2nd and 3rd) they read it along with their parent. Content is appropriate for young advanced readers.
What an awesome book! I'll read anything by Chris Grabenstein, whether it's one of his excellent mysteries for adults or one of his wonderful books for middle-graders like his hilarious Mr. Lemoncello library mysteries.

This book has a large cast of lively and varied characters and features games, many references to real books (including quite a few banned books), and a puzzling mystery plot (with some twists I definitely didn't foresee). It champions "freedom of speech, freedom of expression, and freedom of fun," as Mr. Lemoncello puts it.

This is a book that can be enjoyed by kids and grownups alike, as its humor appeals to all ages. It's the second book in a series, but it stands very well on its own.
This is an excellent Middle Grade book. Being a librarian, I enjoyed the creativity illustrated in this novel. I particularly liked the listing of the books mentioned throughout the games. They even stretched my cognitive abilities! With a hint of mystery and puzzle-solving and fun, relatable characters, I think most MG'ers will enjoy this read.

As a sequel to a great book, this book had a steep hurdle to overcome out of the gate. The book holds its own, but is not as good as the first, and of course, is a little repetitive. Some of the strongest children characters return, along with, of course, Mr. Lemoncello. The plot has expanded to create a literary challenge for the nation, which was clever. The book was enjoyable but as I said, not as enjoyable as the first. I hope that Mr. Grabenstein turns his clear talent to other story lines as this one looks pretty well explored.
A sequel to the first library book. A lot of the beginning of the book rehashes the first book. My daughter felt that the author took too much time reliving book one. However, when you get past chapter 10sh the new Olympics characters get introduced and the book gets more interesting. Kyle is one of the main characters that struggle with the need to be his best and win. He is faced with a variety of obstacles that challenge him and his team that are wacky and fun. One is Marjorie M. who is a library geek. If you enjoyed the first book, you will surely enjoy this book. Just beware that there is some repetition in the beginning. My daughter says it is a little sad at the end (she is ten) when there are threats to burn books in the end.
After the first escape game, kids all over the country are complaining. They say they never even got a chance to get in the competition. Talk about unfair! So, all around the world, new escape games were set up. Then, the final winners were invited to the first EVER Library Olympics! Nobody knows but Mr. Lemoncello has a different purpose that isn't just a set of fun competitions. No, it's much more than that. This series of games is full of surprises for the 32 contestants, and you will be feeling as if you are in the book with them! But then books start disappearing from the shelves. Kyle and his tea want to help Mr. Lemoncello! A new set of clues send the Hometown Heros on a fantastical adventure that has you rooting for them all along. And some one isn't quite who they say they are. This books will have you turning the pages, feeling a wide variety of emotions, and wanting more! With an actor in their midst, can the 32 Olympians and 1 other person with insider knowledge, follow a set of clues to save the Lemoncello Library? Only one way to find out! Read Mr. Lemoncello's Library Olympics today for a book that will change your life forever!
